It is placed in Mežciems near the Garrison cemetery. Church is buit in Orthodox style, which was typical for northpart of Russia. The church was built for merchant's M. Čerkasovs from Petersburg money. The projekt and construction monitoring was on supervision of war engineer Rashevskis. The church was built by craftsmen of Daugavpils fortress. The church was blessed in 1897.
